Magistrate Doug Gorman thrilled by nearly $75 million Kentucky recovery grant
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Some good news for the Commonwealth. Senator Republican Leader Mitch McConnell announced that Kentucky will receive nearly $75 million for long-term disaster recovery.
McConnell said that the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s grant will help our state recover from the tornadoes and Eastern Kentucky flooding.
The grant can help the government cover their cost share of federal disaster recovery programs. It can also help the state recover with rebuilding and economic development.
First District Magistrate Doug Gorman says they’re not sure how Warren County will use the money just yet, but he’s so thankful for the grant.
“We’re just honored that Senator McConnell has worked so hard to bring us to the Commonwealth and a share of that will be coming to Warren County,” said Gorman. “Great opportunity. We’re always excited to have help for our recovery efforts and things we can do with that.”
McConnell said, “Natural disasters have pummeled Kentucky over the past year, causing devastation across our Commonwealth. I’ve maintained close contact with the local leaders coordinating our rebuilding efforts and have worked hard to support them at the federal level.”
Senator McConnell believes this funding will fill in the gaps in the communities’ recovery efforts.
