Madison County man accused of killing mother found dead

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – A Madison County man accused in his mother’s death has been found dead.
According to WKYT, it all started Saturday night at a home on Leslie Drive in Berea.
WKYT reports that’s where the Madison County coroner says 77-year-old Margie Berry was found dead.
The cause of her death has not yet been released.
WKYT says neighbors stated the man deputies identified as the suspect, Kevin Berry, is Margie Berry’s son.
According to court records obtained by WKYT, Kevin Berry’s home address is listed where his mother was found dead.
WKYT states Williamsburg assistant chief of police Brandon White said at around 10 a.m., the Kentucky State Police asked officers to keep an eye out for a vehicle in connection to the homicide case in Berea.
White says KSP told them the vehicle was in Tennessee but was heading north toward Kentucky, according to WKYT. White says he went to I-75 to wait for the car.
Once he saw it, WKYT reports he followed the vehicle for around a mile-and-a-half before the car began to pull onto the shoulder.
WKYT reports White states he turned turned on his lights and sirens to pull over the car, but the vehicle slowly rolled into a rock wall before it stopped.
White says he gave multiple commands to the driver but received no response and saw no movement in the vehicle, according to WKYT.
Eventually, officers would use a drone to see inside of the vehicle and learn it was safe to approach it.
According to WKYT, White says they found Kevin Berry dead inside.
White stated, “Very troubling, very tense and dramatic situation we were faced with today, but there was a tragedy in Madison County, and our thoughts are with the family, and we just utilized each other for working as a team and trying to bridge the gap to fill in the details so that there could be closure.”
WKYT states that White said officers had I-75 shut down in both directions for about an hour and a half as the situation took place until it was clear there was no threat to the public.
