Luxury magazine names Bowling Green top tourism hotspot

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The luxury and lifestyle travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler, says Bowling Green is one of the “Best U.S. Cities to Visit at Christmas” in 2021. 23 American cities made this year’s list this.

The South Central Kentucky town is rubbing shoulders alongside some of the biggest and brightest metropolises in the country, including New York City, Chicago and Las Vegas. A few New England towns with major story book vibes… according to the magazine… are also top destinations.

So, what brought the magazine editors to Bowling Green? Reindeer, of course! The city’s Reindeer Farm and the one million lights stretching across two miles at the National Corvette Museum’s Twinkle at the Track were picture-perfect for the visit.

The SOKY Marketplace Ice Rink is what really got our travelers into the holiday spirit. So, what did they find?

Warren County Parks Department’s Leah Spurlin answered, “Peppermint hot chocolate, sitting in Santa’s sleigh, hearing the Christmas music, just all of it. It’s something that’s very special and so magical is the word that they’ve used.”

The magazine also encourages readers to stay at Olde Stone Lodge in one of 12 cozy suites.

But the notoriety doesn’t stop there. Forbes and Pride Journeys have also recognized Bowling Green as a must see.

Bowling Green Tourism says the town is moving more toward a holiday destination.

Convention & Visitors Bureau Communications Director Nora Bryant said, “It’s awesome because everyone’s traveling in December to visit friends and family, so we want to make our destination is super fun. There’s always something to do in the weekends in December .”
