Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman introduces the Kentucky Broadband initiative

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- From the Governor’s briefing Thursday Evening, Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman shared an encouraging update relating to internet connections across the state.

Lt. Governor Coleman announced that the percentage of Kentucky families without reliable internet access is only 2%, compared to the estimated 10 to 15% previously.

In addition to this encouraging update, Coleman also unveiled the Kentucky Broadband Initiative. The first step is to have all Kentucky families participate in the online test called speed test Kentucky.

This free self-running test will gauge the internet strength of the imputed address. From there, results will be used to create a map of the strongest and weakest signals.

Weekly updates will be provided on these results until the deadline of Feb. 18.
