Louisville Orchestra stops in Glasgow for annual performance part of In Harmony Tour

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Louisville Orchestra made their annual stop in Glasgow Tuesday as part of their In Harmony Tour, with a variety of songs for the community to enjoy.

“We’ve got tons of different things that we’re playing. We’re playing movie music by John Williams, we’re playing popular stuff by country artists. We also have classical staples by Beethoven. I’m going to be featured actually on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, I’m super excited about… so kind of that classical piece, and a few other things too by random singer songwriters… so I would say it’s going to be really, really fun,” violinist Myles Mocarski said.

This has been a partnership the City of Glasgow has had with the Orchestra for over 20 years, and they’ve been on the In Harmony Tour for the last three.

Members of the orchestra are excited to return year after year.

“I’m super excited to be back in Glasgow. Actually, when I was here in Glasgow last year, it was one of the first concerts that I did with the orchestra. So thanks to the generous donations of the state of Kentucky, we are able to do this tour. So we are all super excited to be doing this,” Mocarski said.

The main reason for that is that it helps them explore areas of the state they wouldn’t normally get to.

“Most of us that are in the orchestra live around Louisville and don’t get out maybe to other parts of the state. So it’s just wonderful to meet people and connect everybody together. Music is such a connective force, especially in this very polarizing time… and the audiences, wherever we go in Kentucky, are the best anywhere. I’ve worked in many different places and these are some of the best. They’re so excited and energized. If you just look at the crowd over here, everybody’s filing in wanting to get a glimpse of the sound checks and things like that… so definitely means a lot to us. We’re super excited to be here,” Mocarski said.

It’s all about bringing culture to the community through this performance as well.

“Nothing is wrong with a little culture… and the Louisville Orchestra brings more culture to Glasgow than any one performance that we have. So we really, really enjoy that, and it’s a bonus to have Teddy Abrams directing the orchestra,” Concert on the Square Committee chair Ernie Myers said.
