Louisville man sentenced to over decade in prison for child porn offenses
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man is facing more than a decade in prison in relation to distributing child sexual abuse material.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, Douglas Huelsman, 45, was sentenced Friday to 11 years and 7 months in federal prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release, for one count of distribution and one count of possession of child pornography.
Court documents state Huelsman had used an online messaging application to share and receive images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Huelsman was also ordered to pay $36,000 in restitution to multiple victims in the case, officials say.
“I commend the Secret Service and the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office for their continuing work and partnership in combatting child exploitation throughout the Commonwealth,” U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett said. Federal and state cooperation is crucial to the successful prosecution of those who harm our most vulnerable citizens.”
“Kentucky’s kids will be safer with this predator behind bars,” Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said. “I’m grateful for the zealous collaboration with our partners at the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to demonstrate once again the serious consequences for the exploitation of our children.”
This case was investigated by the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations and the United States Secret Service.
