Louisville man charged with operating boat under the influence

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man is charged with reckless motorboat operation.
On Sunday, a Kentucky Fish & Wildlife conservation officer received a complaint of a reckless vessel on Barren River Lake.
According to the uniform citation, a complainant supplied video evidence of the reckless vessel near their own vessel to the officer at approximately 8:31 a.m. at Narrows Marina. The officer says the video shows Luke Haire, 42, of Louisville, operating the reckless vessel with multiple juveniles on the boat. The complainant says that Haire tried to run over his fishing equipment.
The officer made contact with Haire at 8:33 a.m. The officer says Haire had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages. The citation says Haire admitted to the officer that he was up until 2 am Sunday drinking alcoholic beverages, and he began operating the vessel at 7 a.m. that morning with juveniles on board.
The citation says that two complainants provided statements that correlate along with video evidence.
Haire is charged with first-degree operating motorboat in reckless manner and first-degree operating boat/watercraft while intoxicated or under the influence.
Haire was lodged at the Allen County Detention Center.
