Louisville man allegedly steals vehicle while owner loaded groceries, arrested in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A Louisville man allegedly stole a vehicle and was located in Simpson County early Monday.

According to a uniform citation, the Franklin Police Department responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint at the Marathon Gas Station located at 4391 Nashville Road just after midnight.

Kentucky State Police told FPD that a male exited a car at a pump, retrieved items from the car, and left the door and truck open. The man then walked to the Flying J Travel Center located at 4380 Nashville Road.

FPD says the vehicle was allegedly stolen in Louisville on Sunday.

Officers made contact with Douglas Tucker, 58, of Louisville, at Flying J.

Tucker allegedly told officers he drives a Mazda and that he traveled to Franklin from Louisville.

Tucker was arrested and did not speak with officers about the incident, according to the citation.

Officers say they made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who told them that it was stolen while he was loading groceries into his home.

Tucker was arrested and lodged at the Simpson County Jail. He is charged with receiving stolen property of $10,000 or more.
