Louisville Assistant Football Coach placed on leave following DUI arrest

A University of Louisville Assistant Football Coach has been placed on leave, following his arrest on DUI charges over the weekend.

The Courier Journal is reporting that Chris Klenakis, the team’s tight ends coach, was arrested in Shelbyville shortly before 1 am on Sunday, and then placed on leave yesterday following the incident.

In a statement, Head Coach Bobby Petrino said ""there are high standards in our program for our coaching staff, and we must adhere to those standards on a daily basis".

Klenakis was charged with Reckless Driving, First Degree Wanton Endangerment and other charges. His arraignment is scheduled for September 25th, in Shelby District Court, according to online records.

There is no interim replacement on staff for Klenakis, according to a team spokesperson.
