Lost River Cave hosting 12th annual Snow Flurry Scurry at end of January

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With cold winter temperatures settling in, most people would rather stay indoors than head outside for a run. But at Lost River Cave, hundreds are preparing to do just that for the annual Snow Flurry Scurry.

The 12th annual Snow Flurry Scurry 5K returns to the cave at the end of January, bringing runners, walkers and families together for one of the most unique races in south central Kentucky.

The race begins at the Greenway Trails, winds through the Shawnee neighborhood and finishes at the Cavern Nite Club, where participants celebrate inside the cave.

Organizers say the Snow Flurry Scurry has grown significantly over the years, evolving from a competitive race into an event focused on community and fun.

“It has grown so much,” said Maegan Williams, senior event sales manager at Lost River Cave. “So it was a competitive race. Now it’s a competitive class, a fun race. We welcome all runners and walkers and mamas with strollers, so it’s expanded over the years.”

Williams also says small details, like changing the shirt color each year, have helped keep people coming back.

“We also change the color of the T-shirts every year, so a lot of people get really excited about what color it is,” Williams said. “It’s just gotten bigger and bigger.”

The Snow Flurry Scurry takes place Jan. 31 at 9 a.m. Early registration runs through Jan. 9.

Early registration is $30 for members and $45 for non-members. To learn more, click here.
