BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Lost River Cave is now under new leadership.

Justin Jennings has been announced as the new Chief Executive Officer of Lost River Cave, according to a release.

Jennings will be the organization’s second CEO in history, following Rho Lansden. Lansden is retiring from the role that she has held since 1999.

Jennings started his career with Lost River Cave as a tour guide in 2008 and continued in leading programs for children during school field trips. Jennings served as Head of Park Maintenance and Operations and COO. He is credited with expanding maintenance and cave tours, leading the transition to new custom-built tours, and development of conservation initiatives.

“I knew I had found a place where I could make an impact. I loved interpreting the science of our cave system, sharing the rich history of the property, and imbuing a sense of awe and wonder in tour guests that would hopefully spark a lifelong interest in nature,” said Jennings.

Lansden retires following a 25-year career at Lost River Cave. She is credited with transforming the organization from a nature tourism site to an active recreational site that welcomes 200,000 visitors annually. Lansden created education programs for 36 school districts and created opportunities for community events and weddings to be hosted at Lost River Cave.

“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to be at the helm of Lost River Cave. I’ve met and become friends with so many dedicated people who care deeply about the protection of this community treasure. Working side-by-side with the dedicated Board of Directors, our outstanding staff, countless volunteers, and gracious donors has helped to provide an amazing place that will be enjoyed for generations to come. My hope is that the community will always know that the security of this 72-acre park is in their hands and that they will forever be watchful stewards,” said Lansden.

Lost River Cave will host a retirement ceremony for Lansden on Wednesday, July 17.
