Longest Day of Play
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The official first day of summer is here, and with that comes record amounts of sunlight.
In our area of the country, there are just north of 14 hours of light which makes June 21st aptly named “the longest day of play” to many organizations like park & recreation departments.
News 40 spoke to Tony Allison, owner of Drake’s Creek Canoe told us that the great outdoors was all he had back in his day, which would make a day like the beginning of summer a blast for kids in a pre-screen era.
The Director of Franklin-Simpson Parks & Rec Department Lisa Deavers said that outdoor time can do wonders for your mental and physical health at all ages, but especially younger children.
