Logan County Tourism opens new visitor center and celebrates 25 years
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. — The Logan County Tourist and Convention Commission marked its 25th anniversary this week with a ribbon cutting for its new Tourism Visitor Center and the Locally Logan Shop.
It’s the fifth move for the visitor center in 25 years, most recently located inside the courthouse. The new home, at 215 N. Main St. in downtown Russellville, is inside the former Blue Bird Lane Market and now shares space with the Locally Logan Shop.
The shop highlights products and goods from local vendors, all designed to showcase the best of Logan County.
Dee Dee Brown, executive director of the Logan County Tourism and Convention Commission, said the goal is to give visitors an authentic, welcoming experience.
“I think it’s our friendliness and our hometown feel,” Brown said. “We are a smaller community. We’ll never be a real big community like some of the bigger places. But because of that, we do have the hometown feel and everybody knows each other. And, a lot of people that stay here, they just say that they appreciate how kind they’re treated, how people are nice to them and how they feel at home while they’re here. So that’s our goal: to make people feel at home in Logan County.”
The center also plans to serve as a hub for visitors interested in community events such as the county fair, the Hay Bale Trail and next month’s Tobacco Festival Road Rally.
