Logan County Sheriff’s Office investigating reported shooting in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, Ky. – The Logan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting in Lewisburg, Kentucky.

WRUS reports the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday at about 2:35 p.m. to a reported shooting at the 600 block of Stacker Street.

According to authorities, a preliminary investigation found Clifford Harper was checking a shotgun to ensure it was not loaded when the firearm went off, striking Denita Harper in the left side.

Denita Harper was transported by Logan County EMS before she was flown to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

As of the release of this information to News 40, she was in stable condition.

After the investigation, this case will be turned over to the Logan County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for review.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted on the scene by the Lewisburg Fire Department.
