Logan County sheriff warns against social media

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Social media has great implications but there can be a dark side as well, which law enforcement wants to warn parents about ahead of going back to school.

Stephen Stratton, Logan County’s sheriff spoke with News 40 briefly today about a Facebook post from the department concerning the issue. Stratton said inappropriate conduct on social media can lead legal action under the right circumstances.

“If you’re in a group and someone sends something they’re not supposed to, you could end up in trouble as well”, the lawman said on Zoom. He also said that social media can cause harmful “drama” between school age kids which could lead to bullying and sexual misconduct.

Stratton urged parents to stay on top of what their kids are involved in and perhaps perform spot checks on devices.
