Logan County Republicans gather for Lincoln Dinner with Attorney General Coleman

AUBURN, Ky. (WNKY) –  Republicans in Logan County gathered Saturday night for food, fellowship, and fundraising at the annual Lincoln Dinner, featuring Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman as the keynote speaker.

The dinner, held at the Shell Shop in Auburn, drew about 100 people, according to organizers. Guests included House Majority Floor Leader Steven Rudy and other state officials. A raffle for a rifle was also part of the evening, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Logan County Humane Society.

Coleman, a Logan County native and graduate of Logan County High School, told attendees the event represented the best of grassroots politics.

“You’re going to see about 100 conservatives, grassroots conservatives getting together, talking about their community, talking about how we organize more effectively, talk about how we continue to improve and how we serve this commonwealth,” Coleman said.

He emphasized his commitment to small communities across Kentucky, saying his role as attorney general extends beyond the state’s largest cities.

“Showing up matters. It’s not just me showing up behind the podium. It’s how we show up to support law enforcement here in Logan County and Todd County and Warren County,” Coleman said. “I was elected to serve from the mountains to the purchase region.”

For Coleman, the appearance was also a homecoming.

“I’m excited to be here. I’m excited to be home,” he said. “This is about coming home and seeing a lot of old friends and talking about how we move this Commonwealth forward.”

Logan County Republican Party Chairman Ray Wilson said the annual event helps keep the party active, even in a non-election year.

“With this being an off year, there’s no elections this year,” Wilson said. “It’s a great time for fundraising so that we can raise money for our values and to put politicians in office that reflect those values of our county.”

Wilson added that beyond the money raised, the dinner offers a chance for community members to reconnect.

“The networking, the fellowship. I mean, people,  there’s some people here that haven’t seen each other in years,” Wilson said. “Bringing everybody together like minds with a common cause. We’re just celebrating here in Logan County and our Logan County Republican Party.”

The party says proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward supporting local candidates and advancing its platform in upcoming elections.
