Logan County judge executive Phil Baker speaks on the ongoing flooding
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – In Logan County, there isn’t as much standing water as in other places, but damage can still be seen in places like Duncan Chapel Road in Auburn, where a portion of the road has been washed away entirely.
Neighbors told us a trailer got caught in that area at some point over the weekend as well.
It’s conditions like these that Judge Executive Phil Baker says he’s seen the most of.
He went out Monday morning into areas of the county to assess damage himself, and after seeing parts of roads like that one washed away, he is very happy to see the community come together to make sure everyone is OK.
“For the most part, Logan County has been very lucky compared to other parts of the state. We’ve had a really good search and rescue, Logan County Search and Rescue, all our emergency services, including the fire departments, have done an outstanding job. They’ve been… they’re ready to go in any given notice. I just want to say thank you to those guys,” Judge Baker says.
He also says they’re going to let most of the water recede before they can make evaluations on what is truly damaged and what isn’t, but they have declared a state of emergency in the county, and they hope to get federal and state funding to help cover whatever is needed.
