Author Fest takes place in Logan County
LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – Ever wanted to meet your favorite author? Well, now you can.
Russellville Independent Schools is partnering with Logan County Public Library to host award-winning authors. Tonight’s panel featured Caren Agra Deedy and Linda Sue Park.
The night began with a short introduction and a mediated author conversation, where authors talked about their writing journeys.
Audience members were able to ask questions, too.
Following the Q&A, fans were able to purchase books and even get their books signed by the author. This event is a part of the ‘Russellville Reads Movement’ provided by the Innovative Approaches to Literacy grant, which some say is all about encouraging creativity and opportunity.
Husband and wife librarian duo, King and Taylor Simpson, say they are passionate about reading. King says engaging with authors “really brings it to life for children.” Taylor adds “giving students a chance to see themselves in literature” is special to witness.
If you missed tonight’s festivities, the fun continues Tuesday with authors Nic Stone and Jason Reynolds.
