Locals donate to healthcare professionals to give back during the pandemic

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Health care workers are getting a lot of attention and love while on the frontlines of the pandemic.

Locally, people have been donating food and medical supplies to TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital along with other hospitals in the area.

Wednesday, Charles M. More Insurance Agency in Bowling Green donated lunch and dinner to healthcare workers at Greenview.

“It’s tough on all of us. We are all anxious to go back to work and to do what we do and they are having to do that every day. A lot of people have been able to shut down but the medical staff and the medical workers in the hospital, they can’t do that. They’ve got to come to work every day and we just want to show our appreciation for them,” said Charles Adams.

Doctors and nurses have also received letters and cards from community members.

Andria McGregor, a representative from Greenview, says there are no words to describe how thankful she is to be a part of such a giving community.

“This community has been just fabulous to work and live in. This community has been, I can’t even tell you. It’s phenomenal and we appreciate everyone and what they have done to support us. From the schools sending us cards and posters to just the chalk drawings on our sidewalks. It’s just really sweet and everybody here cherishes those moments,” said McGregor.

“It’s important to us to help the medical community because they are working so hard to keep us safe. [There is] a lot of risk involved in what they do with the virus. So, we are just trying to help out and show our appreciation for them,” said Charles Adams.

Tammy Adams, a representative of the insurance agency, was happy to help out the medical professionals.

“I know that we are all afraid and we are all anxious during this time but we want to let them know how much we appreciate them and how much we appreciate their dedication to keeping us healthy,” said Tammy Adams.

Because of that dedication, many healthcare workers have received different kinds of appreciation recently.

“I’ve even seen a special candy bar that was made special for one of our CCU nurses that says ‘Thank you’ from a patient. It touches our hearts. Our staff, they are called, they have an absolute calling and compassion and their unwavering commitment to our patients and our hospital and our community. There’s not enough words to say how well they are and how deeply moved they are by the community support that we are receiving,” said McGregor.

That support, even coming from outside of the community.

“I’ve had people reach out to me personally because they know I am here from across the country, friends of mine, to say ‘Hi, how are you. How are you doing.’ I am hearing so many stories of the same thing going on with all of my colleague,” said McGregor.

As they did Tuesday night at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, members of Crossland Community Church will be praying outside Greenview this evening for all hospital workers.
