Local tow service offers rides for New Year’s Eve
GLASGOW, Ky. – New Year’s Eve is a night full of celebration, and sometimes all that partying up can leave you in a less than favorable situation.
To care for the community in the most fitting way they can, Overdrive Recovery & Towing has made sure people have gotten home safely for the last 8 years. The company advertises on their Facebook page around Christmas time that they will be giving out rides to those who call, and fortunately, some people take advantage. Owner Matt Keith told News 40 that over the years, they’ve seen enough fatal accidents to not try and help out where they can. The shop has been offering rides free of charge and might have saved some lives in the process.
Tow driver Kenneth Harper spoke to the station as well, Harper said he and everyone else associated with Overdrive would much rather get a phone call to pick them up than respond to a flipped car or DUI arrest, so to him, it’s no question to do something like this on the holiday weekend.
As he recalled how the night went for him, Harper said “If someone is offering a service, just take it. Don’t let pride or anything else get in the way. I’m a father of 5, I wouldn’t want to get that kind of call with any of mine.”
