Local tourism groups watching for coronavirus effects

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The coronavirus has put the travel industry on high alert. Not as many people are flying and fewer hotel rooms are being filled.

Here locally, according to Beth Noffsinger with the Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, with those folks still coming to the area for sporting events and conferences, venues have taken extra steps to keep people from getting sick.

Hand sanitizer stations have  been made available to allow those attending local events to give themselves a little extra protection. She also advises people who feel sick to simply stay home.

The Bowling Green Area Hotel and Lodging Association says that so far, only one event has been cancelled and that’s an orientation conference scheduled for this weekend at Western Kentucky University.
