Local teacher nominated for America’s Favorite Teacher
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- Karma Berkley, a dedicated 2nd grade science and social studies teacher at Parker Bennett Curry Elementary, has been nominated for the prestigious National Title America’s Favorite Teacher. Winning this award would not only benefit her students, but it would also amplify the impact Ms. Berkley has beyond the classroom. As she shares, “Not only am I able to come to the school and be an educator and pour into little minds, but I’m also able to make sure that they’re getting home and getting to school safely. I love to pour into the kids to encourage them and show them that blessings come when you least expect them.”
Ms. Berkley’s commitment to her students is deeply personal. As a single mother, she understands the struggles that many families face. She observes her students at Parker Bennett Curry, noting that some children come to school without basic necessities like shoes, clothes, or jackets. This empathy drives her to go beyond teaching, offering support and encouragement to families in need. Winning this award could provide Ms. Berkley with new opportunities to further enrich her students’ lives with unique experiences and resources.
The benefits of this recognition extend far beyond just a title. It could enable Ms. Berkley to continue fostering positive change in her students’ lives, giving them hope and encouragement for a brighter future.
