Local student has a heartwarming reunion with his mother after deployment
SMITHS GROVE, Ky.-A student at a local elementary school recently received a surprise visit that had him crying tears of joy.
South Edmonson Elementary second grader Parker Treece was surprised by the return of his mother First Lt. Molly Treece from her nine-month overseas deployment on Wednesday. He immediately ran into his mother’s arms.
Parker didn’t know his mother would be making an appearance. This surprise was planned even as Lt. Treece was pulling in that morning.
Students and school staff were trying to fight back tears through the touching moment, but principal Josh Long said the emotions were just so overwhelming, that he couldn’t hold it in.
“I was crying like a baby. The whole experience was just amazing. To be able to do that for the family after knowing Parker and seeing him in school to get to experience that firsthand and set that up for the family, it was simply amazing,” Long said.
