Local schools are seeing attendance increases after closings for illlness
EDMONTON Ky.-Local schools that had to close recently for illness, have been seeing big increases in attendance since they started back up again.
Attendance in the Metcalfe County school district was 92% on Thursday.
On Feb. 4, attendance dropped to 87%, and there was a high number of teacher absences which led the district to cancel classes for the remainder of that week.
Director of pupil personnel for the Metcalfe County School District, Chris Huffman said the time off gave everyone a chance to recover, as well as the chance for the cleaning staff to get to work.
“I think all in all, our cleaning staff and administrators have done an excellent job with managing the building to try to get rid of as many germs and keep our kids as healthy as we possibly can,” Huffman said.
Other area school districts are seeing similar increases in attendance after closing for several days.
