Local runners come together in memory of Ahmad Arbery

BOWLING GREEN Ky.-On February 23, 25-year-old Ahmad Arbery was killed outside the port city of Brunswick. Friday, local runners came together in memory of him.

Six runners gathered in between the Bowling Green Ball Park and Bowling Green Municipal Utilities in the pouring rain.

They jogged around town to remember Ahmad Arbery. Friday, May 8  would have been his birthday, so the runners used this day to remember him.

Harlan Holmes organized the run and said he’s glad the running community came together for a common cause.

“I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am despite the rain. We’re just taking a stand for our community because Ahmad was one of us,” Holmes said.

The runners ran 2.23 miles. This number is significant because Ahmaud was killed on February 23.
