Local pizza restaurant gearing up for busy Super Bowl Sunday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The biggest football game of the year, Super Bowl VIII, is just a few days away. Super Bowl Sunday is also the biggest day of the year for pizza restaurants.

According to the coupon website, RetailMeNot.com, Americans will buy 12.5 million pizzas this Sunday.

CNN Money states there are more pizzas ordered on Super Bowl Sunday than any other day of the year.

Employees at Mancino’s in Bowling Green are gearing up for what promises to be a hectic, yet productive Sunday.

The General Manager, Gabby Tanaro, tells WNKY, additional workers are being brought in to help.

“Sundays are our busiest days anyway,” said Tanaro. “With the Super Bowl coming in, it’s huge. It’s pretty slow in the morning, but as soon as the afternoon hits, it’s a lot. “We handle it really well and it’s a great day to bring in business.”

In addition to pizza, the National Chicken Council says Americans will eat 1.33 billion chicken wings over Super Bowl weekend.
