Local NAACP Youth Chapter Hosts Peace and Prayer Rally
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Dozens of people gathered at the Shake Rag Barber Shop in Bowling Green on Saturday for a Peace & Prayer Rally that was put on by the Bowling Green / Warren County NAACP Youth Chapter.
The event’s primary purpose was to raise awareness about gun violence, especially in the local Bowling Green area.
A handful of speakers shared how gun violence has impacted their lives and the event closed with a prayer from New Level Baptist Church’s Senior Pastor, Samuel Hunter.
NAACP Youth member Ashtyn Browning says she wanted to put on this event to not only stress the importance of gun violence, but also help unite the local community.
“Gun violence is something that’s really going on in this community and in our country..” Browning explains, “…we just need to talk about (gun violence) and have a conversation about it.”
Browning urges local-area residents to be on the lookout for more events put on by the Bowling Green/Warren County NAACP Youth Chapter in the near future.
