Local marketing experts talk cyber saving strategies; cut through the FOMO
Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals begin!
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Now that our turkey and sweet potatoes have had a full day to digest, many of you are shifting gears to Black Friday shopping mode.
Finding Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals can be fun, but overwhelming to navigate through, especially when marketers implement time limits, countdowns and limited-time-only sales. However, some experts are saying the ball may be in the buyer’s court this year.
UK Gatton College of Business and Economics Professor Dr. Allan Chen said, “Last holiday shopping season was the sellers’ market, typically… Not a lot of discounts were offered because of supply chain disruptions. But firms have accumulated a lot more, if not too much inventory on their hands and they’re trying to get rid of their inventory.”
Chen says when it comes to home appliances, you may find great deals out of stores desperation to get rid of their surplus.
“I know everybody’s sick and tired of buying another laptop or computer, because we’ve been sitting in these Zoom meetings for the last two and a half years. But if you do need one then this is the perfect time to buy because those discounts will be really deep.”
Knowing we don’t have to panic buy is one thing, but what are other ways to ensure you get the best deals?
Bowling Green Marketing Agency Chief Marketing Officer Richy R. added, “We definitely recommend planning ahead if you’re going to get out and do shopping for Cyber Monday and Black Friday.”
He says you can download retailers’ apps directly and sign up for their email list to get exclusive deals.
“Since COVID, most retailers offer the same or better deals online where your purchases are shipped or made available for curbside pickup,” Richy R. continued. “Especially at your major retailers.”
Bowling Green Marketing Agency also says trying to price match can be worth the effort, though it may not always work.
So if you’re one of the many cyber shoppers this time of year, think smart, save big and happy saving.
