Local man stuck near Buffalo after winter storm

BUFFALO, N.Y.-A local man is still stuck in a town near Buffalo, New York after the winter storm.

Daniel Langdon, who works with Western Kentucky University Athletics, was visiting his family for Christmas in his hometown Oakfield, which is about 30 minutes from Buffalo.

The city was hit hard by the storm- nearly 5 feet of snow followed by frigid temperatures. The death toll has climbed to 39.

Langdon’s Wednesday flight was canceled. He tried flying out of Rochester and Syracuse and no luck. There are also no rental cars available. But he’s happy that he and his family are safe.

“It was the wind and the negative temperatures. It was probably around negative 20 on Friday and Saturday. Sunday started warming up a little but it was blowing snow, we had over 70 mile per hour wind gusts. There was a point that we couldn’t get out of my town. The roads…we were surrounded and we couldn’t get out, “said Langdon.

There is still a travel advisory in place for the city of Buffalo.
