Local law enforcement participates in active shooter training
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – This week, law enforcement and first responders in Bowling Green are preparing in case an active shooter event were to occur.
The yearly trainings allow agencies to work together and practice situations to figure out the best way to handle it. That’s why the Bowling Green Fire Department is partnering with other authorities to prepare for such instances.
BGFD public information officer Katie Mckee, says, “This isn’t just an active shooter training, it’s a mass casualty training, it could be any scenario. And our goal with this is to work with local agencies, such as the Warren County Sheriffs Office, EMS, Bowling Green Police Department, WKU Police and KSP, to work with them, and build that relationship.”
McKee also says that “these relationships are important not only to keep the patients or victims safe in this case, but also to keep other first responders safe.”
