Local kids learn ‘Cinderella’ musical and hold performance in only 6 days

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo….a group of children are practicing to put on a Cinderella performance in just six days!

Xclaim! Inc. Center for Youth Performance in downtown Bowling Green is holding a Cinderella camp for children aged 7 to 16.

During the summer musical performance camp, the kids practice music, perform dance and memorize lines to prepare for a 40-minute musical version on the last day.

Executive Director Christopher Cherry started the business in 2013, and has had dozens of performers go on to star on Broadway and in Las Vegas.

“Young people that participate in theater aren’t just actors, they aren’t just playing on stage, they’re learning how to make eye contact, speak to someone, they’re learning how to be business leaders for tomorrow,” said Cherry.

“Being in Cinderella, well I’ve actually been in Cinderella once before here and I was Cinderella that time too and it was really fun and I’ve done multiple camps here and I thought I would do another camp here and this is one of my favorites,” said Willow Floyd, who’s playing Cinderella.

“I’m excited to dance with Cinderella,” said Calvin Reed, who’s playing Prince Charming.

The final performance is Saturday at noon. General admission tickets are $5.
