Local JROTC students help honor Memorial Day at Fairview Cemetery
WARREN COUNTY, Ky.- In Warren County, remembering veterans who served this country is being celebrated beyond Memorial Day.
Over 11,000 flags were placed in the Fairview Cemetery by Warren County High School students. The students are not only recognizing this national holiday. Axil Alexander, a member of the Greenwood High School JROTC, tells us they are sacrificing their summer day to honor those who sacrificed their life for all of us.
He says, “You get to honor our veterans who have served our country and get to do something for them in return. It feels very great. Just thinking about it. All these people who have served died in combat, wounded in combat. We get the honor of them just for this specific day. It’s very, very great.”
While you’re gathering at a cookout or spending time with friends and family, the students are encouraging everyone to take a moment to remember those who served this country.
