Local girl is 1 of 3 youth ambassadors nationwide for Toys for Tots

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-A local girl is following in her mother’s footsteps to support the Toys for Tots organization. 

“It’s kind of a family affair,” said mom Janel Doyle. 

Since she was just five years old, Kimber Doyle has been involved in  the program. 

“The Marines have always been like grandfathers to me. It’s been a great role to grow up in, Toys for Tots. As the program has grown, I’ve grown in it, so it’s very near and dear to my heart,” said Kimber. 

Toys for Tots distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

“My favorite part is the distribution day where the families come and pick up their toys, just seeing the joy on their faces, and the kids get to see Sergeant Clause it’s just, it’s a wonderful day, it’s very emotional for a lot of the families because this is their children’s only Christmas,” said Kimber. 

Last year she was a Toys for Tots youth ambassador. This year, she’s been promoted to be one of three youth ambassador mentors in the entire country. 

“It is fantastic and just overwhelming. She has always had a heart of gold, she’s always wanted to serve others,” said Janel. 

Toys for Tots is already busy this year too…they’ve added a 13th county. 

“This week’s a really important week because our request line got turned on on the 15th so the families are calling in now to make their requests and that line will stay open till December 15th,” said Janel.
