Local firefighters, coroner fall during deck collapse at scene

GLASGOW, Ky. – Four local firefighters and the Barren County coroner were responding when a deck collapsed in Barren County.
Monday night, the East Barren Fire Department says it responded to a medical case with an unresponsive patient.
The fire department says firefighters responded to the scene and contacted Barren County coroner Tim Gibson.
The dead patient was on a deck, which was about 10 feet off of the ground, fire officials say.
East Barren says all four of its firefighters and Gibson fell to the ground.
The fire department says one of its firefighters that was not involved in the fall contacted dispatch for additional assistance.
The Glasgow Fire Department responded and assisted to help get firefighters out and get them transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital to be evaluated.
No life-threatening injuries were reported, fire officials say.
