Local Derby plans?

SOUTH CENTRAL, Ky. –  If you’re not headed to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby, you can still have some fun around home.

The Mint Gaming Hall, both in Bowling Green and Kentucky Downs, are showing off all the big races on Saturday. The Mint’s marketing director, John Wholihan, told News 40 that they’re proud to offer self-service betting stations as well as providing tellers to help those along who might not be as knowledgeable about the derby and betting practices. Wholihan also said they’re also offering some variations of the popular Derby drinks, the mint julep and lily.

The Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin is opening their doors to Derby fans as well, staying open a little past regular hours for those who want to watch the race and finish a cocktail or two. Dueling grounds of course is providing mint juleps, but offering a “hot brown pizza” as well.
