Local coffee shop opening second location on 31-W Bypass
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Spencer’s Coffee in Bowling Green is expanding from it’s downtown location.
The popular local establishment has announced plans to open a second location on the 31-W Bypass in Bowling Green, taking over the building that was formerly occupied by Pharaoh’s Lounge.
The shop is aiming to open the new store in Spring 2020.
Spencer’s Owner Justin Shepherd said they’ve discussed adding another store for years, but it wasn’t until this past spring that they found the right spot.
Construction on the building got underway a few weeks ago, with renovations being done to both the interior and exterior of the structure.
One thing that will remain, though, is the drive-thru window, something the current downtown location doesn’t have.
Shepherd hopes the change in scenery will expand an already loyal customer base.
“It’s definitely exciting and nerve-racking as you can imagine,” he said. “We’re really hopeful. We think it’s going to be a good addition to the bypass. Hopefully some of those people who are already fans of ours but can’t make it down here all the time, it gives them a way to get with us more often.”
Shepherd is also hopeful that more businesses will continue to build in the area.
The homemade baked goods that Spencer’s sells at its current location will now be made at the new location on the bypass, but those sweet treats will still be served at the shop on the square.
