Local church participates in Operation Christmas Child

BOWLING GREEN Ky.- A local church is participating in a program to help children overseas.

Christ United Methodist church is a drop off location for Operation Christmas Child.

The program encourages people to donate a shoe box filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items just to name a few.

These items are sent to countries affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine. The church is also providing booklets in the language of the country that the box is being sent.

Volunteers said it’s rewarding to help people get Christmas gifts.

“You can make an impact in the life of a child that you’ll never meet, you’ll never know who they are, but you’ll know that you’ve reached out and improved their lives,” said Operation Christmas Child drop off center coordinator Larry Wells.

The church is located at 716 Cave Mill Road.
