Local businesses affected by storms on June 25

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two local businesses were hit hard by the devastating storms last night. Grant’s Farm Produce in Warren County suffered major damage to one of their houses.

“I was in my place, which is about eight miles away from here. I got phone calls and texts as it was hitting, and it was pretty serious through their texts and their phone conversations. I knew it was bad. I know it was bad. I just didn’t know until I got down here this morning really how bad it was,” co-owner Richard Grant says.

He says this isn’t the first time his property has been hit.

“House number three got hit about four years ago… about $20,000 damage. A tree came down and hit it. Just about four months ago, we got the front porch knocked off the big house. The winds have been crazy this year. I don’t understand it. I really don’t,” Grant says.

In Barren County, Happy Valley Road was flooded throughout the night, while owner Roger Allbright was at his Quick Stop Shoe Store.

“I was here at 1:00 this morning. I came down to check, make sure that there wasn’t any damage on the inside of the store. And when I got here, there’s a couple of cars out in the street that stalled. I’ve been here 28 years and this is the highest I’ve ever seen the water here,” Allbright says.

He has one simple message for anyone in the community that wants to help out.

“There’s a lot of people around here that I know I’ve heard that had their basement flooded. If you see somebody in need, jump in and help them out,” Allbright says.
