Local Black-owned business: Highlighting Late-Nite Sweets N Treats
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Late-Nite Sweets N Treats is a local Bowling Green business started back in 2017, which specializes in unique cheesecake and cake recipes all while serving the community and customers until two in the morning.
As Black History Month continues, one local Black-owned business continues on even after rebuilding.
Conchetta Bell, the owner and baker at Late-Nite Sweets N Treats, says, “It’s almost like just that creating this whole new category that doesn’t exist. It’s exciting. So it makes me feel very excited. It makes me feel like we have a place, we have an amazing customer base, and it makes me feel like we’re going to be here for a long time.”
The journey to get where they are now was not an easy road to take.
The original location for the business was the Bypass, and it was destroyed by the 2021 tornadoes.
Conchetta says, “Looking back, God really had a plan. And I think what he was building to me at that time was literal storms will come. A literal storm. They will be unpredictable. They may shatter, they may tear. But at the end of the day, you can rebuild. This is just a broken, broken piece of glass, right?”
The unexpected devastation that came from the storm didn’t completely stop her customers, community and faith kept her going.
Conchetta also says, “I didn’t even know I needed this. I didn’t even know I wanted something this good at 11 at night or two in the morning. But I’m so glad you’re here and I’m going to keep coming back. So it’s it’s important to keep going because you don’t know what you can create and, and who’s actually going to say ‘yes’ and keep coming until you actually go out there and do it. “
