Lifetime sex offender allegedly hosts Cave City event to film, photograph minors

CAVE CITY, Ky. – Police say a Cave City man violated requirements for a lifetime registered sex offender on Friday.

The Cave City Police Department says it received a complaint on Friday for a vendor show hosted by Jose Zapata, 54, at the Cave City Convention Center.

A complainant says Zapata set up activities and booths set up for minors.

An officer says Zapata was taking videos of minors and posting them to his Facebook page for his business His Hands Creations on Saturday.

Police say Zapata is a lifetime registered sex offender and is in violation of the requirements of individuals on the registry.

Zapata was taken into custody and is lodged at the Barren County Corrections Center.

Zapata is charged with sex offender film/photo/video minor without consent.
