Bowling Green man dies from self-inflicted injury after standoff with deputies

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is dead from a self-inflicted injury after a standoff with Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Deputies were attempting to serve an eviction notice at an apartment complex in the 6000 block of Louisville Road Thursday morning.

The man opened the door and said he needed to go upstairs to retrieve some personal items. Instead, the man locked himself in his bedroom and refused to come out, Sheriff Brett Hightower said.

His roommate told deputies that the man may have a gun. Deputies tried to make contact with the man before eventually breaching the bedroom door where they found the man deceased, Hightower said

Hightower declined to say how the man died.

His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

A neighbor, Madison Hacker, said law enforcement activity at the apartment complex is rare and she was surprised to see so many patrol vehicles in the parking lot.
