UPDATE: Subject arrested following vehicle pursuit and standoff in Logan County

LOGAN COUNTY, Ky. – A Russellville man has been arrested after an hours-long standoff in Logan County, authorities say.
On Monday, the Kentucky State Police says it was assisting the Bowling Green Police Department with looking for a stolen black GMC Canyon pickup truck.
Troopers say the vehicle was seen heading toward Bowling Green on Russellville Road.
According to authorities, when police attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to halt and continued southbound on Interstate 165. KSP says it then pursued the vehicle through Warren County before crossing into Logan County, at which point troopers say the driver was seen brandishing a firearm.
The vehicle then reached Coopertown Road in Russellville before coming to a stop, where a standoff lasted several hours.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office advised residents Coopertown Road was closed starting around 10:26 a.m. Monday morning due to the vehicle pursuit.
Russellville police, KSP and Logan County deputies were on the scene through the afternoon to negotiate with the subject, identified as 40-year-old Adam Lee Parnell. Parnell remained in the vehicle showing the firearm and refusing to comply with commands, authorities say. KSP’s Special Response Team was deployed.
According to KSP, Parnell was arrested around 5 p.m. without further incident.
He remains at the Logan County Detention Center.
Parnell faces charges of speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, reckless driving, first-degree criminal mischief, disregarding a stop sign, disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
