Law enforcement officials emphasize caution on roads with school in session

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- With students in the local area returning to school, law enforcement agencies want to remind the public to use extreme caution on the roads and in school zones.

Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower emphasizes to allow extra time for morning commutes to ensure that everyone makes it where they need to go, all while slowing down in school zones.

When school zone lights are flashing, it’s crucial to begin to slow down as you’re approaching that area. When it comes to buses, no one is to pass a stopped bus with flashing red lights and the stop arm out.

Hightower says Warren County is constantly growing, making it even more important to pay attention to these factors.

“Warren County is growing, so we get a lot more traffic in and out of these thoroughfares. We just want people to use caution, take time, adhere to the traffic safety speed limits, stop signs, yield signs, crosswalks, everything like that just to make sure everybody gets to where they’re going safely,” Hightower said.

It’s also important to keep these guidelines in mind in the late afternoon hours as students head home for the day.
