Law enforcement finding new ways to prevent exposure to dangerous drugs
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Those in law enforcement are regular exposed to deadly and dangerous substances while serving communities throughout Warren County.
As opioid use continues to be a national concern…exposure to the drugs and drug needles are often a concern for emergency responders.
Synthetic opioids such as Fentanyl and Carfentanil are becoming more common in Warren County. There is a high risk of overdose for users and those exposed to the drugs.
Law enforcement is coming across the dangerous synthetic drugs more often, and the Director at the Warren County Drug Task Force hopes to keep them safe from exposer.
“The newest thing we expect to receive a device known as TruNarc, which will actually test unknown substances through a clear or somewhat opaque material without actually having to open the package. We anticipate receiving that in the next month or so,” said Tommy Loving, Director at Warren County Drug Task Force.
Loving says that law enforcement in Bowling Green use special gloves and other methods of avoiding exposure to dangerous drugs.
