Last-made C7 Corvette Stingray donated to National Corvette Museum

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s the end of an era.

Last Thursday, Nov. 14, production of the C7 Corvette came to an end, with the final car – a Z06 – rolling of the assembly at 3:10 p.m.

The second-to-last car, though, will now call the National Corvette Museum its home.

The final C7 Corvette Stingray was delivered to the museum Wednesday afternoon.

It was purchased by lifetime museum member Ivan Schrodt, who with museum president Sean Preston, delivered the Corvette to the lobby of the museum.

Schrodt spoke to the crowd gathered at the event and officially handed over the keys of the Stingray to officials with the museum.

Schrodt said that when Preston approached him about being a part of Corvette history, it was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

“When Dr. Preston called and said that General Motors was giving them the opportunity to have the last Stingray, and would you like to be a part of that,” added Schrodt. “It was like, yeah! Once in a lifetime, absolutely just out-of-this-world wanted to be here.”

The Stingray took a lap down Victory Lane before being put on display inside the museum’s Skydome.
