Lady Tops climb to second on day two of C-USA Championships

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – WKU women’s golf climbed into second place at the Conference USA Championships on Tuesday and trails leader Jacksonville State by just six shots with 18 holes left. The Lady Toppers have shot a 7-over 583 through 36 holes, while the Gamecocks are at 1-over 577.

Individually, Catie Craig and Sydney Hackett are tied for third, four shots back of the individual lead. Hackett and Julia Zigrossi both fired even-par 72s on Tuesday for WKU’s best round of the day.

NOTABLES

  • Hackett (-3) and Craig (-2) are the top two golfers in the field in Par 3 scoring. Averi Cline is 1-under and tied for third.
  • Hackett is 1-over on the Par 4s and tied for sixth in the field.
  • Zigrossi (-4) and Craig (-3) are tied for second and fourth, respectively, in Par 5 scoring.
  • Craig (7) and Hackett (6) are tied for fourth and eighth, respectively, in birdies.
  • Kaylee Dwyer has made 26 pars through two rounds, tied for second-best in the field, while Hackett’s 25 are tied for sixth.
  • Through 36 holes, WKU leads the field in Par 3 scoring at 4-under. The Lady Tops are third in Par 4 scoring (+20) and sixth in Par 5 scoring (+2).
  • WKU has 117 pars and 24 birdies through the first two rounds. They are second in pars and tied for fourth in birdies.
