Labor Day Boating Safety
BOWLING GREEN Ky. – With the Labor Day Holiday weekend fast approaching, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife wants everyone to remember to stay safe when boating over the weekend.
Marcus Bowling the Boating Education Coordinator for Kentucky Fish and Wildlife said that drinking and boating never mix, just like drinking and driving and that when in the elements and waves on a boat that drinking can double itself, leading to greater inebriation faster. He also recommends always wearing a life jacket when on a boat, especially if it is moving or when swimming in a natural waterway.
“Just keep safety first and the forethought of what you’re doing and be aware of what’s going on around you, because there will be a lot of boaters on the water this weekend for a holiday weekend. So just kind of be aware of what’s going on around you to keep yourself safe.” Bowling said.
