KSP provides traffic safety checkpoint reminder, locations

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police would like to offer occasional reminders to those driving our roadways.

KSP said it utilizes traffic safety checkpoints to promote safety for motorists traveling on public roads and to provide a deterrent for those who violate laws.

The purpose of a traffic safety checkpoint is to provide a high visibility, public safety service, focusing on driver impairment, vehicular equipment deficiencies (confirming appropriate registration and insurance of vehicles) and to check for valid driver’s licenses. Other violations of the law or other public safety issues that arise will be addressed.

“Our agency strives daily to ensure the safety of the motoring public,” stated KSP. “Some of these proactive measures include various traffic safety checkpoints and saturating known problematic areas in the district through general patrol tactics.”

These checkpoints will allow KSP the opportunity to periodically concentrate its efforts in checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws that can ultimately increase the safety of Kentuckians.
