KSP offering Safe Schools security training program

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- After the tragic elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Kentucky State Police wants the community to know they do everything they can to keep us safe.

KSP offers Safe Schools trainings for teachers and administrators, free of charge. Each of the 16 posts in the state offer the training.

The training teaches a team-based approach to ensure school security.

The three hour class goes through PowerPoint presentations, sit down trainings, first aid classes, and potential scenarios to have staff as prepared as possible.

“You never know what’s gonna happen. The only thing that we can do is prepare and do everything that we can to help prevent things from happening like this in our area,” said KSP Post 3 Trooper Daniel Priddy.

There are four different levels of training a school can pick from, from an on-site visit to KSP assisting in lock down drills. For more information, click here
