KSP investigates after one killed, struck by train in Barren County
CAVE CITY, Ky. – Kentucky State Police says one man is dead following a collision involving a train.
On Wednesday July 13 just before 3 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was requested by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a fatal collision in Barren County, according to a release by KSP.
Troopers responded to the scene of the accident located at 454 State Quarry Road in Cave City.
KSP stated that preliminary investigation found Timothy J. Duvall, 33, of Leitchfield, was driving a 2014 Mack dump truck southbound on State Quarry Road near a railroad crossing. According to the release, Duvall did not see a CSX train traveling westbound as he entered the crossing area and was hit by the train.
Duvall was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner.
The investigation by KSP was assisted by Barren County EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Cave City Fire Department and Barren County Coroner’s Office.
